If you’ve been looking for a Sun Oven cover, I found a square patio ottoman cover on Amazon for about $24 that fits my Sun Oven nicely. This will protect your solar oven from the elements!
It slips over the folded reflector panels, and the straps clip together underneath the oven. Once they’re secured, I can pick up the whole thing by the cover’s two handles.
The size I used is 21 inches wide by 21 inches deep by 17 inches high. That’s the square version, and the little bit of extra room is what makes it work so well.

Why I looked for a replacement Sun Oven cover
Sun Oven International, Inc (SOI) used to sell the fitted cover for around $50 to $60, along with other accessories. Since SOI isn't around any longer, none of these accessories are available unless you're lucky enough to find them for sale used somewhere.
Like I did with the dehydration rack suggestion, I found an alternative Sun Oven cover on Amazon. By the way, this works on My Solar Ovens too (the Sun Oven copycat).

This cover just slips over the top. I can put it on or take it off without working a zipper around the oven, and it cost me about half as much as the original cover used to cost.

This cover is made by OutdoorLines, and they sell this as a cover for a patio ottoman or side table. Here’s what comes with the square version I used.

How the 21 × 21 × 17-inch cover fits
With the reflector panels folded, the fit on my Sun Oven is nearly perfect. There’s just enough room to pull the cover down over the corners without tugging it into place. It comes off just as easily.

I like having that little bit of slack. The folded reflector panels have hard edges, and a tight cover would drag across them every time I took it off or put it back on. A little clearance means less rubbing at those corners, where I’d expect the fabric to wear first.
The cover also gives the folded oven some protection from dust and the elements between cooking sessions. It'll prolong the life of your wooden bezel. I let the oven cool and dry before covering it, and I store it in a sheltered spot between uses.
How I use the cover to carry my Sun Oven
The straps and clips are what make this cover more useful than a simple dust cover. They connect beneath the base and help keep the oven in place when I lift it by the handles.
OutdoorLines describes the handles as a way to put on and remove the cover. Carrying a Sun Oven this way is how I’ve used it.
- Fold the reflector panels down once the oven has cooled.
- Slip the cover over the oven and pull it down evenly on all sides.
- Clip the straps together under the base and snug them up so the oven can’t easily shift.
- Lift using both handles. Give the cover a short test lift close to the ground to make sure the straps stay seated under the oven. I carried my oven around by the two handles, but could not do that and get a picture at the same time - so you only get to see one hand below. 😊

That’s handy when I’m moving the oven from storage out to the yard. When it’s time to cook, I set the oven down, release the clips, and lift the cover off.
Will it fit a My Solar Oven?
I tested this size on my Sun Oven. If you have a My Solar Oven, fold the reflectors and measure the oven at its widest, deepest, and tallest points, including anything that sticks out. Compare those measurements with the 21 × 21 × 17-inch cover and leave a little clearance around the folded panels. If you plan to use the handles, also check that the straps reach under the base and clip together securely.
